New Lifestyle with Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Japan

New Lifestyle with Coronavirus (COVID-19) starts in Tokyo

Even in Tokyo, which had the highest number of infected people in Japan, the number of new infected people is steadily decreasing, and "new lifestyle" has begun. When I walk outside, all the passers-by are wearing masks.

Measures against Coronavirus at shrines

For hygiene reasons, the nearby shrine no longer has a ladle for scooping up hand water. As you approach, water comes out of the bronze dragon's mouth.

At the shrine, the bell in front of the offering box was removed. It was customary for worshipers to shake the string on the bell before praying to the god of the shrine. Shrines are also changing traditions and taking measures against corona.

Specific Examples of "New Lifestyles" by Government

Specific examples of "new lifestyles" issued by the government are as follows:
  • Keep as much as 2 meters (at least 1 meter) away from people.
  • Manners to keep distance when passing each other
  • Wear a mask even if you have no symptoms
  • Thorough cough etiquette
  • Be quiet
  • Sit side by side, not face to face
  • Avoid eating with a large number of people
  • Avoid large platters at the dinner, and cook individually
  • When meeting elderly people or people with a high risk of becoming seriously ill, such as those with chronic illness, make physical condition management more strict
  • If you have a fever or a cold, treat yourself at home
  • Do not go home or travel
  • Only travel when it is unavoidable
  • Telework and rotation work
  • Meeting online
  • Business card exchange online
  • Frequent hand washing and hand disinfection
  • Ventilate frequently
  • Shopping also uses mail order
  • Use of electronic payment
  • Use video at home for muscle training and yoga
  • Jogging with a small number of people

Public Health Needs and Culture

The new lifestyle is conscious of "avoiding contact with people," which contributes to the spread of infection. Originally, in Japan, when greeting a person, he did not shake hands, only by bowing. Such a culture may have been created from public health needs. We will cultivate a culture to prevent the spread of infection.
